Kunisaki archaeotourism tour.

  • Usa Jingu

    (Shrine)

    This beautiful world treasure is set up in A.D725 by emperor. Shoumu. Also, this is a head shrine of 44,000 Hachimangues in Japan.

  • Fukiji

    (Temple)

    This world treasure is the oldest wooden architecture in Kyusyu. In a temple, there are many historical arts such as mural, caving from the Heian era (9-11th century).

  • Maki odo

    （Temple）

    This is a head temple of "Rokugo-manzan : 65 temples around the 6 mountains in the Kunisaki area". In a temple, there are superb 9 buddha statues which are designated as a national cultural treasures.

  • Kumano magaibutsu

    (Buddha statue on the rock)

    After climbing a steep cliff, you may feel completely overwhelmed with the two enormous Buddha statues which are carved into rock. These statues are designated as a nationally important cultural property.

  • Futagoji

    （Temple）

    This temple is located in the middle of Futagoyama : the highest mountain in the Kunisaki area. The best point of it is an enormous pair of guardian Deva kings called "Niouzo".

  • Fukuzawa Kyutei

    (Former residence)

    Yukichi FUKUZAWA is well-known as a symbol of 10,000yen bill. Meanwhile, he is well-known as a pioneer of democracy. This is the house where he had lived in when he was 3-21 years old.

  • Ao no doumon

    (Hand-made tunnel)

    The tunnel is a man-made structure that was dug more than 250 years ago. It is the oldest toll-road in Japan. In the colored leaves season, one can enjoy beatiful sceneries along the road.

  • Rakanji

    （Temple）

    This temple is located on the middle of crag. In a temple. there are many rice paddles with wishes written on their by worshippers.

  • Yabakei dam lake

    This enormous dam was constructed in 1983 and the length of it is 313m.

  • Shin-Yabakei

    (Canyon)

    This canyon has acquired its current shape throuh long years . The best view is during the colored leaves season.

  • History museum

    The theme of this museum is "God, Buddha , Pray ". There are many historical exhibits which are related to culture and history of Oita.

  • You can have a lunch at the restaurant on the way. （Note : the fare does not include lunch ）
